Substantially the Cressi Maui fin blade is composed of two rigid lateral wings that direct the flow of water to the central section, where the overlaying of a softer, more elastic material makes it more flexible. In this way the blade flexes to a 'spoon' shape, contributing considerable propulsive force. The fin can be used with bare feet or light socks, depending on personal choice and comfort. The heel of the fin is made from comfortable soft rubber. The grab handle for fitting the fin wraps around the ankle, reducing protrusion and chafing while swimming.
